Comprises press clippings, exhibition planning materials, and lectures created and collected by Jacquelynn Baas, curator and
Director Emeritus of the University of California Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. The bulk of material documents
Baas' involvement in exhibition creation and planning for the 1990 exhibition "The Independent Group: Postwar Britain and
the Aesthetics of Plenty", documenting the work of the Independent Group, an early 1950s movement of artists inspired by mass
media, consumer culture, science, and technology; includes film, photographs, essays, correspondence, and audiocassettes of
recorded interviews with Independent Group artists. Collection also contains photographs, meeting schedules, notes, and agendas
for Awake, an arts consortium focused on art and Buddhism, and material documenting their various projects, including the
Buddhism Project. Includes support material for Baas' books "Buddha Mind in Contemporary Art" and "Smile of the Buddha."

Baas is is an independent curator, cultural historian, writer, and Director Emeritus of the University of California, Berkeley
Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
