Creator/Contributor:
Simpson, Clarence Thomas, creator, creator
Abstract:
Studio portraits and snapshots pertaining to Clarence Thomas Simpson -- a middle-class African American man of Kansas City,
Missouri and, later, Los Angeles, California -- and multiple generations of his family. Portraits depict Clarence, his mother
Eliza, his sisters Siddonia and Josephine, and his cousin the Reverend A.L. Kimborough of St. Paul, Minnesota, among others.
Snapshots chiefly depict various family members during leisure outings, travels, or posing in various domestic situations.
Also includes miscellaneous correspondence, most written to Clarence; an invitation to Siddonia's graduation ceremony of Lincoln
High School in Kansas City; and miscellaneous cancelled checks written by Charles in the 1920s. Negatives are snapshots that
do not duplicate images found in prints, but that contain similar subject matter.
