Abstract:
Chiefly photographs of Alfred Seymour Hopkins performing a one-person adaptation of Hamlet in various theaters and other venues,
in Argentina and perhaps elsewhere in Latin America. Other performances by Hopkins are also documented. Also includes a high
school portrait of Hopkins, a later portrait, and miscellaneous snapshots.

Alfred Seymour Hopkins (born May 1, 1938, Los Angeles, California ; died November 27, 2016, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania) was an
American journalist, drama educator, poet, teacher, and dramatist. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley
in 1962 with a degree in social science/journalism. From 1962 to 1966 he worked at three daily newspapers in the United States.
From 1966 to 1969, he traveled extensively throughout Latin America working as a freelance journalist covering news focusing
on peace anhd social justice. In 1972, he returned to Latin America, eventually settling in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the
next four decades. In 1977, he began studying acting with various mentors, including Ricardo Bartis. He acted in dozens of
plays in English and created a solo performance of "Hamlet" which he performed at La Casa de las Americas in Havana, Cuba
in 1997. He returned to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 2016.
