Hyde & Goodrich of New Orleans specialized in watch and jewlery repair, and the sale of silverware, guns, lamps, and other
"military and fancy goods." It was formed in 1817 when the jewelry establishment James N. Hyde and Company opened a branch
in New Orleans at 15 Chartres Street.
The New Orleans Emigration and Remittance Office, located at 25 Bank Place and run by John Toole, helped persons remit money
to friends and relatives in England, Ireland, and Scotland with sterling sight drafts payable in any post towns in these kingdoms.
The office also helped new immigrants arriving from Liverpool, England.
