Abstract:
Chiefly snapshot photographs documenting the history of Tassajara Hot Springs in Monterey County, Calif. Photographs depict
buildings and other structures, roads, trails, and visitors and other persons associated with the development of the resort,
including family members of early owner Charles W. Quilty, and Zen Buddhist Shunryu Suzuki. Most photographs were taken prior
to the acquisition of the hot springs by the San Francisco Zen Buddhist Center.

Tassajara Hot Springs is a natural hot springs in the Ventana Wilderness, within the Santa Lucia Range and Los Padres National
Forest in Monterey County, California. The hot springs have been the site of a resort of one kind or another since the 1860s.
The site is currently owned by the San Francisco Zen Buddhist Center which uses it as a study center and opens it to visitors
during the summer.
Marilyn McDonald was a long-time resident and historian of the Tassajara area.
