The Jewish Radical was a periodical published by the Radical Jewish Union, of the University of California, at Berkeley. This
periodical was an outgrowth of the late 1960s and early 1970s that brought forth a politically committed Jewish student movement.
Reaffirming their Jewish heritage, these students pointed to the radical and humanistic traditions in Jewish culture that
supported their critique of both the Jewish establishment and the American government's policies relating to Vietnam. The
periodical dealt with topics and issues that concerned its readers (i.e. college students): Jewish and black relations; Arab-Israeli
relations; the plight of Soviet Jewry; Jews in the American Left; interfaith relations; alternative living styles; and the
emerging feminist movement.
