Creator/Contributor:

Abstract:
Album of snapshot photographs, postcards, ephemera and other materials compiled by a participant of a Greater University of
Tours organized bus tour from the United States to Mexico in 1936. The tour, probably originating in Wyoming, included numerous
points of interest in both countries. Among the Mexico locations depicted are Mexico City, Xochimilco, Cuernavaca, Nuevo Laredo,
Taxco, Mamulique Pass, Acapulco, Aquilla, Limón, Pachuca, Toluca, Guadalupe and Pátzcuaro. Also depicted are farmers, artisans,
indigenous peoples, various pyramids, and bulls. United States locations include Wyoming, Raton Pass, Texas (Hamilton Hotel
in Laredo and the Alamo in Austin), New Orleans (Hotel De Soto) and the Mormon Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Adhered to
many leaves are descriptive texts clipped from various sources, pertaining to cultural and geographic points of interest.
Among the ephemera is a tourist identification card issued by a migration agency of Mexico, and a Greater University of Tours
travel certificate, both in the name of Bertha Hicks and dated 1936. Other ephemera includes bus schedules, hotel stickers,
a menu, an advertisement for UT (i.e. University of Tours) travel services, etc. Includes some photographs of tour participants.
