Thomas Francis Parkinson was born in San Francisco in 1920. He attained a B.A., M.A., and Ph. D from the University of California,
Berkeley where he also pursued his teaching career. He was an expert on the Beat Poets and William Butler Yeats, and he published
four volumes of his own poetry. Parkinson died in Berkeley in 1992.
