Abstract:
Production photographs of early performances of the Magic Theatre in San Francisco and Berkeley, some of which were written
by Michael McClure. Some of these performances took place at Mandrake's Bar in Berkeley, and some at the Steppenwolf Bar in
San Francisco. Included are Charbroiled Chinchilla, The Meatball, The Pansy, Spider Rabbit, The Cherub, The Dutchman (by Leroi
Jones, later known as Amiri Baraka), The Gas heart, Holy communion, The Leader, The Madness of Lady Bright, The Master, Meat
poems, Miles Gloriosus, Sheriff Bill, Striptease of jealousy, Thoughts on meeting a friend, and Victims of duty. Also includes
several programs and other theater-related ephemera.
