Abstract:
Collection consists of reports, plans, drawings, photographs, and slides relating to Warren B. James' engineering work on
the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in the 1930s and the following other bridge projects in Northern and Southern California:
San Gabriel School District foot bridge (1931); Robinson Ferry Bridge on the Eel River north of Scotia (1941); Switzer Canyon
overhead (1943); bridge at intersection of the Hollywood Parkway, Arroyo Seco, and Harbor Parkway (1944); Santa Ysabel Creek
Bridge (1947); San Luis Rey River and Keys Canyon Creek Bridge (1947); Alvarado Street undercrossing (1948); Santa Ana River
Bridge at Olive (1949); San Gabriel River Bridge widening (1949); Wilton Place overcrossing (1951); Atlantic Boulevard at
Marguerita and Raymond bridge (1952); Campbell Avenue pedestrian overcrossing (1953); Ramona Freeway, one mile east of Jackson
and Rosemead (1952-1954); Jackson to Rosemead (1953); Route 26/2 separation (1955); Aliso Street widening (1955); Fourth Street
viaduct (1956); Chell Depot Overhead and Chell Depot on ramp (1957); Mission Road to Pasadena Avenue (1958); Anaheim-Fullerton
freeway (1958); and Olive Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard overcrossings (1958). Also included in the collection are a copy of
the September/October 1960 issue of California Highways and Public Works with an article on cable relocation written by Warren
James and pamphlets and booklets relating to bridge construction equipment.

Warren B. James was a bridge engineer. He worked on the construction of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge between 1933
and 1936 and also served as the resident engineer for a range of other bridge building projects in Northern and Southern California
during the 1940s and 1950s.
