Anne Henrietta Martin (1875-1951) was born at Empire City, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada in 1894, and
served for many years as head of its Department of History. She was an active suffragist who campaigned unsuccessfully in
1918 and 1920 for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Later she was active in pacifist organizations.
