Abstract:
Contains miscellaneous research correspondence, including letters from Paul Green, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and Sydney Clark,
written in response to inquiries from Sisson, as well as numerous letters from The Bancroft Library and Dr. James Hart concerning
Sisson's many gifts to the library and his assistance on the Oxford companion to American literature. Also includes Sisson's
research correspondence with British and American publishing firms concerning the numbers of copies each published for Francis
Parkman's Oregon trail and for Richard Henry Dana's Two years before the mast.
Personal correspondence includes several letters from Sisson's former professors and schools in Alabama, including F.M. Cook,
President, Snead Junior College and Walton R. Patrick, Auburn University, among other individuals. There are only two letters
are from his parents, and a small amount of biographical ephemera.
