Abstract:
Two documents signed by officials of the Order of the Bath concerning a British general, Sir Robert John Hussey Vivian. One
document, dated March 16, 1857, concerns the granting of a coat of arms and contains a description of the coat of arms and
color illustrations. The other document, dated September 25, 1871, concerns Vivian's appointment to the rank of Knight Grand
Cross in the Order of the Bath.

On rolled vellum with the wax seals of the signers in brass containers attached by ribbon. Housed in custom-made wood boxes.
Sir Robert John Hussey Vivian (1802-1887) was a British soldier who served as the Adjutant General of the Madras Army in India
and with the Turkish Army in the Crimean War. He was made a Knight Commander of the Cross in the Order of the Bath in 1857
and a Knight Grand Cross in 1871.
