and the advertising agent Thomas Boyce. The collection provides documentation on patent medicines sold in California, advertising
techniques, and the importation of opium from Turkey and China. Includes typed transcripts of selected letters.

drugs to retailers in California. The firm's wares included quinine, quicksilver, and "Florida Water." The firm also imported
opium from China and Turkey for processing by the Chinese in California.
