A file relating to the campaign of Berrotarán, commander of the presidio of San Francisco de Conchos, for the pacification
of Suma, Apache, and other Indians, ordered by the governor, Juan Francisco de la Puerta y Barrera, in accordance with viceregal
orders. Included are copies of Puerta's instructions; Berrotarán's diary of the campaign; gubernatorial orders and correspondence;
testimony on Berrotarán's failure to obey instructions; his defense; documents concerning his arrest and the referral of the
case to the viceroy, etc.; and related material.
