The Northern California Chapter of the Committee to Defend America by Aiding the Allies (CDAAA) was formed June 5, 1940, by
a group of citizens living in the San Francisco area. Affiliated with the national headquarters in New York City, the Northern
California regional office was in San Francisco, and was responsible for local chapters throughout Northern California. The
main purpose of the organization was to sway public opinion and governmental foreign policy toward helping Great Britain and
its allies in World War II. After the United States entry into the war, the CDAAA changed its name to Citizens for Victory:
To Win the War, To Win the Peace.
