Abstract:
A variety of albums compiled during the youth and early adulthood of Charles M. Weber. Volume 1: postcards sent to Weber from
1905-1907 while he attended St. Joseph's Academy in Berkeley. Volume 2: snapshots taken shortly before and after First World
War, 1913-1914 and 1918-1919, depicting many of Weber's activities and associates, including family members, family residences,
scenes of Cornell University and Ithaca, N.Y.; the Sierra Nevada; a richly-annotated cross-country automobile trip; aviators,
including Weber, and aerial views of various unidentified locations; and miscellaneous scenes of San Francisco and other Bay
Area locations. Volume 3: snapshot album inscribed to Weber's aunt Julia Helen Weber, documenting Charles's 1919 summer trip
through California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Volume 4: snapshot album documenting a July 1922 trip to Hetch
Hetchy Valley and Yosemite Valley, including many views of the mountain wilderness and scenes of Hetch Hetchy reservoir and
O'Shaughnessy Dam. Volumes 5-8: snapshots, postcards and ephemera pertaining to Weber's Grand Tour-style trip of Europe taken
in 1923, depicting numerous locations in England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and
the Netherlands. PIC box 1 contains material found laid into the various volumes, a set of commercial photographic views of
California redwoods, and miscellaneous photographs. Nitrate negatives depict snapshot scenes of Yosemite Valley. Glass negatives
depict camping scenes at an unidentified location.

Charles Maria Weber III (1893-1987, also known as Charles Martin Weber) was a civil engineer and represented San Joaquin County
in the California State Assembly (1927-1943); brother of Helen Weber Kennedy (1889-1983), son of Charles Maria Weber (1851-1912),
nephew of Julia Helen Weber (1853-1935), grandson of California pioneer and Stockton founder Charles David Maria Weber (1814-1881).
