Three letters from Mary Wollstonecraft to her friend Ruth Baldwin Barlow. The first letter (2 pages), dated February 3, [1794?]
is signed "Mary Imlay." The second letter (3 pages) is dated April 27, 1794 from Havre; and the third letter (4 pages), dated
May 20, 1794 from Havre, announces the birth of her daughter, Fanny Imlay.

In June 1793, British writer, philosopher, and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) and her lover, American businessman
and diplomat Gilbert Imlay (1754-1828), left Paris in order to escape the revolutionary violence there. They went first to
Neuilly, then moved to Le Havre in January 1794. Her and Imlay's daughter, Frances "Fanny" Imlay, was born at Le Havre on
May 14, 1794.
