Abstract:
Items relating to the Washoe mining region include: a large format textual description of Vischer's "Panorama from the summit
of Mount Davidson, Washoe Range"; and four photographs (c.1862 by Vischer, possibly from an album or catalog) which reproduce
"Vicher's vignettes of Washoe" and "Vischer's Panorama of Washoe, from the summit of Mount Davidson." Collection also includes
eight original watercolors, some of which appear to reproduce Vischer originals, by Ogilby; mostly showing the San Francisco
Bay, missions, and other California scenes. Some of these are decorated by pressed foliage surrounding the images.
