Otto Wallace Peterson was born in Berkeley, California, on December 31, 1880. While a student at University of California
Berkeley he was employed as an enumerator in the summer of 1900 to canvas part of Supervisors District 1. He graduated from
the University of California, Berkeley in 1904 with a degree in engineering. After serving as chief engineer and general superintendent
for the Suribong Water Power Project in Korea, in 1920 he joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company as manager of the general
construction department.
