Abstract:
First letter, from New York, discusses his desire to return to Sacramento, commenting on steamship fares, and the gold rush
on the Frazer River. The second and third letters find him writing from Sacramento. They are very newsy, mentioning a funeral,
an instance of marital infidelity, the laying of the Atlantic cable, the California legislature, skepticism about the coming
of the railroad, and mutual acquaintances.
