Abstract:
Contains mostly deeds along with a smaller number of other related real estate legal documents such as bills of sale, receipts,
tax sales, account sheets, etc. for property transactions involving William Heeser. Also contains a small amount of similar
materials unrelated to Heeser. Includes a state of California letters patent issued to Heeser on November 29, 1871 for 30/100's
of an acre of tide lands in Mendocino County. The letters patent has a gold paper seal of California affixed and is signed
by the governor of California, Henry H. Haight. Other miscellaneous materials include correspondence, a drawing book of Mary
Ann [Mamie] Nelson with pencil sketches of buildings, flowers, and butterflies, and a pictorial baptismal certificate (35.5
x 28 cm) of Augustus Alfred Heeser, William Heeser's son, from the First Presbyterian Church, Mendocino, California, signed
by Pastor James L. Drum. The pictorial portion at the top of the certificate (20.5 x 16 cm) depicts an infant baptismal ceremony
inside a large church, and at the bottom is a smaller pictorial scene from the Bible (7.5 x 4 cm).
